Here's further proof that technology can eventually be used to combat problems that it has created. The crime of "upskirting" (using a mobile phone camera to take sneaky pictures up women's skirts or down their tops) is rife in Japan. So on all the new 3G iPhones sold in Japan, the distinctive loud "shutter" sound when a picture is taken cannot be disabled, even when the phone is on silent mode.
