Video calling with 3G
30 June 2008
3G offers fasters data transmission, meaning that when you make video calls, there will be a lot less lag. 3G networks, short for ';third generation', offers a data transfer rate up to ten times faster many 2G networks.
Nearly all mobile phones support video calling. The problem is that many Australians aren't making use of it with their 3G mobile phones. One problem people are experiencing is slow transmission. Video calling has reasonable rates with most Australian mobile phone plans
Video calling allows people with hearing difficulties communicate through mobile phones. If you don't have a webcam, a 3G mobile phone with video calling makes a good substitute.
Most 3G network coverage also covers the GSM coverage. This means that if you're on a voice call, and step out of range of the 3G coverage, you'll automatically be transferred to GSM coverage.
