The battle to lure mobile phone subscribers among the 3G networks is getting fierce and the weapon of choice is exclusive video content. Vodafone (www.vodafone.com.au) has joined the Australian Rugby Union to launch Wallaby TV. This seven-minute weekly instalment, or mobisode, delivers footage of training sessions, player interviews and coverage of upcoming tours to South Africa and New Zealand, none of which is available on free-to air TV. Vodafone subscribers can also download rugby news as well as results and a Tri Nations ladder. In other mobile sports coverage, both Vodafone and 3 are offering a live video stream of SBS's coverage of the FIFA World Cup. DF
