3g Expands
Sydney Morning Herald
Saturday November 5, 2005
Vodafone has launched its third-generation mobile service into Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra metropolitan areas. As Australia's newest 3G network, Vodafone wants to entice users with music, TV, video calling and keen pricing. The extra bandwidth that 3G delivers will allow for faster downloads and video streaming. Vodafone is offering several capped 3G bundles starting at $49 a month (not including handset) and a free Sony Ericsson V600 phone with its 24-month $79 plan. Songs are $2.79 a track and a Sky News/Fox sports subscription is $2.99 a month. Hutchison's 3G launched in 2003, while Telstra started two months ago on Hutchison's network.
