Optus 3G Network
Optus 3G network is out in the market for the major areas like Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney (among others). Their 3G system has been modeled to give excellent coverage so that the individual would have fast data transmission in both uploading and downloading. Without a doubt, Optus 3G is one of the movers and shakers of the current industry.
Untiringly working with the GSM network (it affects/covers no less than 650 thousand of sq kilometers), the result is that 96 percent of the population of the country could access the WiFi. Via the new and the old stations, Optus 3G was designed to meet the high demands of their customers.
The Wireless Broadband is one of the company's greatest assets and services, both. The broadband technology utilizes the HSDPA, giving the users download clips of around 500 kbps to 1.5Mbps, and that is not the end of it.
The management is seriously planning to branch out, here are some of the areas: Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast.
For the uninitiated, 3G is the term for the wireless/mobile technologies which would permit us voice, high-speed Net, video telephony, and even music services all at the same time. Optus 3G aims to have about a thousand base stations very soon, and this projection is not unrealistic.
If you want a specific enumeration of their services, I'll give them. Internet: wireless, DSL, ADSL2+, Ethernet network solutions, satellite. Telephony: standard fixed line, VOIP, Voice over DSL. Mobile: phones, email at the mobile, and the CAP Plans. Take note, these are just some, not all.
Let me end this with a piece of interesting news, very recently, Optus and Google disclosed that they had an "alliance" which should give the Optus subscribers with easier hold on video/information. As per the reports, Google would firm up the web search mechanisms of Optus.
The other developments vis-a-vis this meeting of the minds are: via Google's AdSense program, text-based ads could be displayed. The company's mobile subscribers would have fast access via the OptusZoo portal going to YouTube, coming from one's mobile. According to a top honcho of Google, Inc, it is a "strategic announcement", and on that score, I concur.
